AMX®, a worldwide leader in control system technology, today announced the appointment of retired Lt. Gen. John “Jack” Woodmansee, Jr. to its Board of Directors. Woodmansee is a distinguished 33-year veteran of the United States (U.S.) Army and has extensive technology experience, both in military and private sectors. Woodmansee’s expertise will help strengthen and guide AMX’s strategic initiatives in the government market.

Woodmansee is the current president and CEO of Tactical and Rescue Gear, Ltd. (TRG), which manufacturers and sells a wide variety of products and equipment to the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and local law enforcement around the country.

Prior to joining TRG, he worked for Perot Systems Corporation, where his leadership and strategic vision helped shape it into the multi-billion dollar company it is today. When Woodmansee joined Perot Systems, he was responsible for building its corporate infrastructure, which included finance, legal, communications, human resources, training and development, recruiting support and internal information. Later, he was responsible for the company’s North American sales and operations, totaling approximately $250 million annual revenues, and served as a member of Perot Systems’ Board of Directors. During his tenure he also formed the company’s Technology Project Group.

“Today, AMX is a leading provider of control systems to all aspects of the government – state, local and federal. Combining our technology prowess and successful track record with Jack’s highly valuable insight and experience will undoubtedly take AMX to new heights, both in the government sector and beyond,” said Rashid Skaf, AMX president and CEO. “To say that AMX is honored to have such a decorated individual join our board of directors is an understatement.”

Prior to joining Perot Systems, Woodmansee spent more than 30 years in the U.S. Army. During his last 15 years of service, he was one of the Army’s foremost futurists. When not commanding forces, he served in force development assignments, which included designing the material, organizational, and doctrinal requirements for the Army’s future.

During his military career, Woodmansee also served as the deputy chief of staff, operations, for force development, where he established the materiel requirements and prioritized the $25 billion research, development and acquisition budget. Much of the fighting force and weaponry used by the Army during Operation Desert Storm bore his imprint.

Woodmansee is a former White House Fellow, serving as a special assistant to the Secretaries of State, Dean Rusk and William Rogers. He also served as a National Security Fellow at the Hoover Institution of War, Revolution, and Peace at Stanford University.

Since retiring from active duty, Woodmansee has served on both the Army Science Board and the Defense Science Board. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Culver Educational Foundation, the Board of Advisors for U.S. Detection Technologies, Inc. and the U.S. Army Aviation Association of America’s Hall of Fame.
